Creative Writing

Course Description

Students will gain experience tapping into their creative minds to write expressively and skillfully. Weekly creative writing prompts are designed to inspire engaging student work that will then be refined and edited. Students will learn about different genres, practice brainstorming tactics, and engage with current literary journals to gain inspiration. Self-editing skills will be conveyed, as well as peer-editing skills. Students will read and respond to one another’s work and learn to adopt positive and negative feedback. Holly, the instructor for this course, will also use her experience as Editor-in-Chief of a literary journal to teach students how to pitch their creative works for publication.
